PRESENTATION OF THE SECOND EDITION OF AULA AQUILONE

The kite as a symbol of sustainability, enhanced by the creativity of young students. They are invited to participate in this contest, strongly promoted by LCI, whose role goes far beyond being a company that collects and recycles used paper and cardboard.

"Aula Aquilone" has now become a well-established event, and we are proud to have created it, strengthening our commitment to promoting sustainability. Each year, this initiative brings poetry and positive values into primary school classrooms across Italy.
For the upcoming edition, the jury will include the organizers of the International Kite Festival of Cervia, Artevento, who have made Cervia famous as the "kite capital." This partnership was created to further highlight the connection between kites, sustainability, and the environment.

THE GOAL?

The aim is to raise awareness about paper recycling by directly involving young students in fun and educational activities that transform waste paper into beautiful kites.

Beyond offering cash prizes, the initiative culminates in an official ceremony that emphasizes the human and environmental value of these activities. Schools can register for free until October, with the objective of instilling in children a deep understanding of the importance of recycling and the circular economy. This, in turn, positively influences their future environmental behavior. Moreover, involving families extends the initiative’s reach, creating a virtuous cycle that fosters greater collective environmental responsibility.

THE FIRST EDITION?

The 2023 edition of "Aula Aquilone" saw the participation of over 1,900 students, who showcased creativity and dedication by transforming old notebooks and newspapers into fully functional kites. The jury awarded several projects, including the winner of the "Fly Higher" Award, assigned to Class 4C of Federico Fellini School in Rome for their project "Reduce, reuse, recycle, fly". Additional prizes were given to the projects "Meraviglia" and "Geometria in volo", recognized for their popularity and creativity.

Marco Silvestri, CEO of LCI, commented: "Group activities that encourage collaboration and responsibility while combining creativity and fun create the perfect environment for fostering learning and environmental awareness. This very combination inspired us to create this contest for primary schools— a fertile ground where children's environmental sensitivity can even surpass that of adults."
